            Welcome
We’re improving the lives and livelihood of American Indian people and their community in the Twin Cities metro area. You can support our work.
American Indian Community Development Corporation (AICDC) was formed in 1992. Our mission is to provide culturally unique initiatives, housing and entrepreneurial programs that strengthen American Indian Communities.
Since 1996, AICDC has operated Anishinabe Wakiagun, a 45-bed, permanent supportive housing development for homeless individuals suffering from substance use disorders (SUDs); our residents are primarily American Indian. Anishinabe Wakiagun is located at the intersection of Franklin and Cedar Avenues in south Minneapolis, in the heart of the Native American Cultural Corridor.
In 2016, AICDC developed an additional 32 units of permanent supportive housing adjacent to Wakiagun called Anishinabe Bii Gii Wiin. In the fall of 2021 AICDC will open Anishinabe III, a 40-unit permanent supportive housing development for homeless individuals suffering from opioid addiction. Adjacent to both other residences, Anishinabe III represents the last phase of development on the Anishinabe Campus.
In addition to the Anishinabe campus, AICDC has developed an additional 88 units of scattered site, permanent supportive housing serving primarily Native American individuals suffering from substance use disorders.
