2009 MN Indian Housing Conference

Description and details: 

The 2009 Minnesota Indian Housing Conference will bring together tribal
leaders, housing board members, housing, social service and health
professionals along with federal, state, local, and government housing
professionals and practitioners. Additional attendees are expected from
both the for-profit and non-profit financial industries. Together they will
discuss homeownership, affordable rental housing issues, and explore
supportive housing both on reservations and in urban American Indian
communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour supportive
as well as affordable housing owned and operated by American Indian
community groups, learn about supportive housing models designed
specifically for youth, re-entry and homeless veterans. There will be
a half day session on supportive services for housing stabilization,
where presenters will discuss creative and essential services to help
households stabilize their housing and exit homelessness. This session
will also feature one-on-one working groups for tribal staff who would
like to learn more about the unique funding opportunity for tribes.
Lastly, attendees will hear from state and national speakers addressing
the impact of the recent Economic Stimulus initiatives funded by our
federal government as it pertains to American Indian tribes and its
people.
